My name is Tina and I have decided to create this blog to record my journey as a Technical Communicator.

About me! I graduated with a BA in 2020 and had no idea what I wanted to do with my career. I knew a few things about myself: I really enjoyed writing essays, and I loved explaining complicated concepts.

After working as a grant writer for a year and a half, and I gained experience in that. But what propelled me further into my career was my interest in dipping my toes into literally everything. I tried everything. I learned more about what I liked when I agreed to help create employee and volunteer manuals, copy edit marketing materials, and I even created a short instructional guide on how to use Salesforce. By doing this, I realized I wanted to write professionally so what did I do? I browsed every single program available in Toronto colleges and stumbled upon Seneca's Tech Comm program. This Tech Comm program was exactly what I needed. I applied, submitted my university grades, and spent weeks stressing over my resume, and letter of intent. And it paid off! I was accepted into the program, and started my journey in the summer of April 2022.

I learned to write instructional guides using best practices, how to create accessible designs, how to prototype websites using HTML, CSS and Javascript, how to author huge manuals using Framemaker-- I even learned how to use InDesign to create a cool looking manual for UNO. I digress.
